Douglas Perenara Johnston, a creative from Oamaru, Janet Frame’s “Kingdom by the Sea.” Of Ngāti Rangitihi, Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Porou, Scottish, Irish, Cornish, German and Scandinavian ancestry – he tries to incorporate his culture in his work where possible. Always seeking new media to express what never seemed possible with the spoken word.
A published author of short stories and creative nonfiction. His work has been included in anthologies by Pavlova Press and Wicked Shadow Press.
Douglas was a Top 6 Finalist in the Iridescence Award 2024 for Writing (New York, USA).
