Yvonne Powley

Yvonne Powley, Professional Staff, University of Auckland, is an experienced researcher and writer with a keen interest in energy policy and environmental sustainability. With a background in social impact assessment of energy development in the 1980's in Taranaki at the time of 'Think Big'. Yvonne brings a unique perspective to current comparative energy research between Japan and New Zealand. She currently sits on the Auckland University of Technology Ethics Committee and the NZ Law Society Standards Committee. She is a member of the New Zealand Society of Authors, Te Puni Kaituhi o Aotearoa.

Yvonne has a long history in managing community organisations, including Auckland North Community and Development and Auckland New Ventures Inc, amongst others. In her earlier years as a professional photographer, she was a member of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers and the Advertising and Illustrative Photographers Association. Yvonne ran her own business, Pacific Research and Development, working on various projects in the Pacific and Melanesia, including disaster assessment work, for which she trained with RedR New Zealand and participated in several disaster relief missions in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. She was on the Board of RedR New Zealand, secretary of NZ Private Educational Providers of New Zealand as well as Director of EWPANZ.
