Due to the impact of COVID-19 on international travel, the majority of Creative New Zealand’s international funding programmes are on hold for the current financial year (July 2020 to June 2021). Funding is available through their Arts Grants programme, to support New Zealand artists, arts practitioners arts groups and arts organisations to engage in a variety of international activity, including authors and international festivals seeking support towards the author’s participation in international book festivals or other international market development activity.
Grants can be used towards costs associated with engaging virtually, or flights and accommodation if travel is permitted at the time of application (check www.safetravel.govt.nz).
Because of this change to the Arts Grant criteria, the International Promotional Fund for Literature, previously delivered on behalf of Creative New Zealand by PANZ will no longer be offered.
Creative New Zealand continues to partner with PANZ to manage international market development initiatives, such as publishers’ attendance at international book fairs and the translation of New Zealand titles into foreign languages, the publication of a rights catalogue to promote New Zealand literature for distribution to agents, publishers and festivals, the development of a digital rights platform to host the catalogue content online and initiatives to support the capability of publishers to develop rights skills and find new ways of working and selling rights online.
