As New Zealand adjusts to its new ‘normal’ and begins its long journey out of the lock down stages, we wanted to share with you a number of opportunities that are currently available to New Zealand writers and authors.
Both the CLNZ/NZSA Writers’ Award and Research Grants were brought forward in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With applications closing very soon we encourage you to apply and share with others who might be interested (more info on both of these opportunities are below).
CLNZ/NZSA Writers’ Award 2020
With only a few days left to apply, now is the time to get your application in for this year’s $25,000 Writers Award. The award was established to provide financial support for writers wishing to devote time to a specific project and to cover reasonable research expenses relating to it. In a broad range of non-fiction genre, specifically including education works, it is the clear intention of the award that a book will be published as a result of receiving the award. Applications close this Friday 29 May at 4pm. You can read about last year’s recipient here >
With four x $5,000 Research Grants to apply for, now is the time to get your application submitted as applications close next week. These grants were established to support New Zealand writers by providing assistance to those who wish to undertake research for a fiction or non-fiction writing project. Applications close next Friday 5 June at 4pm. You can read more about last year’s recipients here >>
