Two Ockham award-winning authors, both writing about the legacy of the Second Generation and of children of survivors of the Holocaust. They discuss how Kirsten Warner has conveyed the inheritance of trauma in her fiction. The after effects of the Second World War continue to reverberate and there is a continued interest in the terrible events of the Nazi genocides. Kirsten Warner’s novel “The Sound of Breaking Glass” won Best First Book for fiction in the 2019 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards. Diana Wichtel’s memoir “Driving To Treblinka” won the Ockham Non-Fiction book award in 2018.
