Kia ora Writers
The first-ever Book Night to be held in New Zealand is happening on Tuesday 24 May and we’d love you to be a part of it.
Details are in this media release and on our website
And you can view our Book Night Poster, which you are welcome to print and circulate to your friends and networks!
To participate, all you need to do is read for 15 minutes or more anytime during the evening (between 5pm to midnight). Wherever you are, whoever you are with, grab a book, e-book, magazine…and read for at least a quarter of an hour. We’d love whanau/families to read together and for parents (especially dads) to role-model reading for pleasure.
After the event, readers can register here and go into the draw for amazing prizes including a $150 book voucher.
We’d love to receive your message and/or ‘selfie’ or digital photo on the night of 24th May.
So get reading on 24th May! We look forward to receiving your message and/or photo.
Endorsement of Book Night – Catriona Ferguson, Chief Executive, New Zealand Book Council:
“We are delighted that the Book Discussion Scheme is launching Book Night in May. At the Book Council, we firmly believe that reading changes lives; Book Night offers a fantastic opportunity for readers around New Zealand to feel a sense of connection with each other and to celebrate all that a good book has to offer”.
