On Thursday 28th April we host our first 2016 Salon for writers and readers to think, talk and have a drink together. For those who like to read, an inspiring and interesting evening about the written and printed world of words.
So, settle back in a comfy chair with a free glass of wine and canapés, while enjoying an exchange of ideas with our stimulating speakers:

  • Peter Dornauf: -Writer, poet, painter & critic. Local teller of tales and icon maker Peter Dornauf will be speaking about his latest book, a cultural history called ‘How We Were Made’.
  • Gail Pittaway: -Hamilton audiences might know of her as a critic and regular reviewer on Radio NZ’s Nine to Noon programme. Gail Pittaway’s day job is as Senior Lecturer in the School of Media Arts, Wintec. She will be speaking on Food writing as literature, her PhD subject.
  • Dr Tracey Slaughter’s short fiction has received numerous national and international awards. Tracey will be speaking as Editor of Mayhem, an exciting new literary journal showcasing creative writing by students and alumni of the University of Waikato.
  • Mayhem Live- A live reading of poetry and prose featuring writers from the Mayhem Literary Journal, presenting award winning and emergent authors.
  • Hosted by Mark Houlahan, Academic, actor, reviewer, Shakespearean expert and M.C. extraordinaire.

Tickets are $15, which includes a free drink and canapés.  Tickets are available now for purchase from Browsers Bookshop or door sales at The Meteor, on the night. Tickets are strictly limited.
