NEXT MEETINGS OF NELSON AND GOLDEN BAY LIVE POETS
The June meetings of the Live Poets Societies feature guest poet Jeffrey Paparoa Holman from Christchurch. Holman has published seven volumes of poetry as well as history and memoir. Live Poets’ spokesman Mark Raffills says of Holman, ‘A raw-bones poet, he brings the reality of hard work and sure belief to the craft of poetry. His visit is going to be a big encouragement as he takes the inspiration that started him off as a writer and passes that on to those following.’
The Nelson show will also feature former Nelsonian Ross Inness-McLeish, who will perform poems from the book he has just released in Australia, Wildflowers and Wastelands. It is co-authored with Lucy Carver, who was also brought up in Nelson.
Music is an integral part of the Live Poets’ meetings, and at Golden Bay Lisa Williams will perform songs from her recently-released album Timeless, open road songs in the folk tradition.
