Northland Branch National Short Story Competition 2021 – deadline 31 Aug

Open Section: Theme is The Wish, 1500-word limit, $12(gst inc) entry fee first story, $20 for two, $28 for three.

First Prize $300, and a free critique for second and third places. The top three stories will be published on the NZSA Northland website.

Year 7 & 8: Theme is The Wish, word limit is 50-300 words, entry fee $10 per class with a limit of 10 stories per class.

Prize is $50 for school and $30 for author of winning story, $10 for second and third place and publication for the stories on the NZSA Northland website.

Judges: Diana Menefy & Lesley Marshall, both with many years of experience in judging competitions. Diana is an award-winning author with many stories published in anthologies and with Learning Media. Lesley is one of New Zealand’s leading professional editors and writer of flash fiction.

Year 7 & 8 Judges: Trish Fenton & Fraser Smith. Trish Fenton is a published author and with many years of experience in primary education. Fraser is a published author of novels and stories for children and retired school principal.
