NZSA Wellington Branch Guided Tour – Wellington Writers Walk
11am, Sunday 20 June
The NZSA Wellington branch, in association with the Wellington Writers Walk (WWW), is offering a guided tour of the Wellington Writers Walk.
The Wellington Writers Walk is made up of a series of 23 quotations from well-known and much-loved New Zealand writers, including poets, novelists, and playwrights – all of whom share a strong connection to Wellington City. The guided walk will provide an opportunity to discover many of these plaques and other benchmarks along the waterfront, from Te Papa to Frank Kitts Park.
The tour will be led by two WWW Committee members, both Wellington writers. They will be happy to share their passion for this iconic project and answer any of your questions. There will be time for readings, so feel free to bring your favourite, writerly quote about Wellington to share.
The event will last one and a half hours. We will meet outside the main doors of Te Papa at 11.00am on Sunday morning to begin the tour. This is an outdoor event and will only be cancelled in case of really bad weather, so please be aware of weather conditions and dress accordingly with appropriate footwear. The walk is on the flat, along the waterfront, but access to some plaques involve steps.
This walk is offered free to NZSA members and non-members are also welcome by koha (which can be paid now or collected on the day). Register here
