THE 2019 TEXT PRIZE! – deadline

Attention, writers of Australia and New Zealand: there’s just one month to go! Mark 7 January 2019 in your diaries, because that is the date entries open for the $10,000 Annual Text Prize for Young Adult & Children’s Writing.

Full details and the entry form are here.

Submissions open 7 January and close 8 February, 2019.
The Text Prize – now in its twelfth year – aims to discover great new books for young adults and children by Australian and New Zealand writers.  2019 will see the publication of the most recent winner, Nina Kenwood’s It Sounded Better in My Head, and the third book in the Huggabie Falls trilogy by 2017 winner Adam Cece.

Awarded annually to the best manuscript written for young readers, the prize has unearthed extraordinary, multi-award-winning books and launched international publishing careers. Published and unpublished writers of all ages are eligible to enter with works of fiction or non-fiction.

The winner receives a publishing contract with Text and a $10,000 advance against royalties.

So, what are you waiting for? Finish off your Christmas shopping and pick up your pen, pencil, quill, stylus – whatever it is you use – and get writing. Everyone at Text is eagerly awaiting your manuscripts (honest).

And while you wait for the submission period to open, why not take a look at the winning entries from previous years…
