There is a proposed literary sector coalition for books mooted to focus on generic promotion of NZ books and writers – as a new sector organisation, that could support and benefit the work we all do within our own spheres.
Some initial brainstorming meetings have taken place with representatives from the Maori Lit Trust, Publishers Association, Book Festivals group, the Michael King Writers Centre, the NZ Society of Authors, the Book Awards Trust, Booksellers NZ and the NZ Book Council.
This group proposes to form a plan and seek funding to undertake generic promotions for NZ books.
We are holding two sector consultation meetings in Auckland and Wellington so please, come and be heard.
We want to gauge the appetite for a new organisation from the sector, and hear what our literary arts organisations think might be a missing piece this group can work on. We urge all writers to come and be part of the conversation to ensure the authors voice is fully represented.
