Applications for the 2026 Fulbright NZ Scholar Awards are open!

These awards are for New Zealand academics, artists or professionals to lecture and/or conduct research at US institutions. Awards valued at up to US$37,500 are granted each year, towards three to five months of lecturing and/or research.

Awards are available for lecturing and/or research in any field, and allow Fulbright Scholars to be hosted at any eligible US institute.

The Fulbright-Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga Scholar Award is for a New Zealand academic, artist or professional to lecture and/or conduct research at a US institution in the field of Indigenous development. One award valued at up to US$37,500 is granted each year, towards three to five months of lecturing and/or research.

Fulbright US Scholar Awards

Applications for the 2026 Fulbright US Scholar Awards are open!

Fulbright US Scholar Awards are for American academics, artists or professionals to lecture and/or conduct research at New Zealand institutions. A small number of awards valued at up to NZ$39,500 are granted each year, towards three to five months of lecturing and/or research.

Fulbright Specialist Awards  

Applications are sought for the Fulbright Specialist Awards!

These awards are for New Zealand institutions to host US academics, artists, or professionals for two- to six-week programmes of activities, including lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences, and symposiums.

The Fulbright Specialist programme pairs highly qualified US academics and professionals with host institutions abroad to share their expertise and strengthen institutional linkages, while building capacity at their overseas host institutions.
