NZ Mountain Film & Book Competitions Open

Adventure creatives, it’s your time to shine! The NZ Mountain Film & Book Festival is back for its 23rd edition, celebrating the best in adventure storytelling through film and literature. Mark your calendars: the festival will take place in Wānaka (20–24 June) and Queenstown (26–27 June), with the Online Film Festival running throughout July.

Entries are now open for the annual NZ Mountain Film & Book competitions.

Why Enter?

  • Compete for $9,000 in Prizes! With a range of categories, top honours include $2,500 for the grand-prize-winning film, $2,500 for the Best NZ-Made film, and $2,000 for the Mountain Book of the Year.
  • Showcase Your Talent. Winners and finalists will feature in our official festival programme, releasing in May.
  • Join a Legacy. As a member of the International Alliance for Mountain Film, our festival attracts world-class films and books while championing emerging talent. Check out our past Grand Prize filmmakers here.

Themes: Let your creativity soar! Submissions should connect to adventurous sports or people, with the world’s mountains, lakes, rivers, oceans, or skies as your canvas. Cultural and environmental themes are also welcome.
