NZ On Air announces Public Interest Journalism Fund details

In February Minister of Broadcasting and Media, Hon Kris Faafoi announced $55 million to provide targeted, short to medium-term support for public interest journalism. The Public Interest Journalism Fund will be administered by NZ On Air.

The Public Interest Journalism Fund is designed to provide three years of transitional support to the media sector, following the $50 million media sector support package which provided short term support to media entities in 2020.

Yesterday, NZ On Air announced that it will create three funding streams to address at risk public interest journalism, following sector consultation. The first funding round will open at the end of April.
