NZFC 2 Day Wānanga

Tēna koe e Te Manapou,

He karanga tēnei kia haere mai ki Te Wānanga o He Kupu He Ao. He kaupapa tēnei nā Te Tumu Whakaata Tāonga mō te hunga e manawa rīrā ana ki tō tātau Reo Māori me ōna tūmomo tuhinga hei Tāonga-kiriata.

You are invited to a 2-day wānanga to inspire and develop Reo Māori stories from Te Ao Atua, Te Ao Tūpuna me Te Ao Tangata. This is an opportunity to bring creatives together, to craft Indigenous story ideas, language and vision, within an Ancestral Intelligent, interactive and inspiring environment.

Ko ngā ringarehe e kawea nei i Te Wānanga o He Kupu He Ao, ko Te O Kahurangi Waaka (NZFC Manukura – Chief Advisor Māori), Ainsley Gardiner (NZFC Head of funding), Kath Akuhata Brown (writer/ director), Briar Grace-Smith (writer, director), Anahera Gildea (Story teller/Kaituhituhi pukapuka), Tihini Grant ( Writer/Story teller). Ko Chris Winitana (writer, storyteller) me Tina Maree Kaipara-Winitana (wānanga facilitator) kei te whakapūaki i Te Whare Kōrero o Ahorangi Te Ao Atua hei tikitiki mākawerau i te Whakaaro Māori, Reo Māori, Tāonga-kiriata Māori.

Participants encouraged to attend are in the film, tv or publication space who are writing in te reo or have written short films, plays etc and projects through our development pathway with Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga / NZ Film Commission. We have also invited a representative from our partner agencies Tē Māngai Pāho and Irirangi Te Motu – NZ on Air and Ngā Aho Whakaari to be there as a way of supporting other options if stories may fit better in their space.

The Wānanga o He Kupu He Ao will be held at Te Puna Creative Hub, 8/14 Henderson Valley Road, Henderson, Auckland.

  • Day 1: 9:00am to 5pm / return home
  • Day 2: 9:00am to 4pm / return home
  • End times may adjust depending on energy of the roopu

Please confirm if you will attend and if you have any dietary requirements before midday Thu 21st August 2025.
