Open for applications from 10 June 2016
This award is open to writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama with a literary track record who are currently working on a new project. With grateful thanks to Peter Beatson this award occurs annually and provides the successful applicant with $7,000. To apply for this award you need to be a member of the New Zealand Society of Authors (NZSA)
In 2015 the fellowship was awarded to Otago poet Michael Harlow who used the grant to work on his manuscript All the Pianos in the Wood. The 2015 stipend also allowed Michael to accept an invitation to represent New Zealand at the ‘Europa in Versi’ Poetry Festival at Lake Como, Italy. Michael reported this was “the first time they’ve had a Kiwi, and they pulled out all stops to support my work—including a feature-profile article in Italia’s leading newspaper Courier Della Serra”.
Deadline for applications: 5pm 15 August 2016
