Pasifika cancelled: Coalition for Books back-up plan!

The Coalition for Books received news today that Pasifika has been cancelled for the second year in a row.

We acknowledge the stirling efforts of Dorothy Butler Bookshop.

They will run a pop-up Pasifika bookstall and poetry performance this Sunday featuring        David Eggleton, Daren Kamali, and Tayi Tibble.

The Coalition for Books produced 38,000 copies of the Maori and Pasifika books catalogue:

  1.  The catalogue is in week’s issue of NZ LISTENER, so approx 33,000 copies have been distributed this weekend.

2.  An additional 3,000 copies are going to booksellers and libraries

3. The giveaway competition is now online, at the pop-up event on Sunday, and will be part of special displays in selected libraries in Auckland over the next 2 weeks.

4. Displays featuring books from the flyer, along with flyers and posters (about competition etc) will be in Auckland libraries over the next fortnight.

5. The flyer will be featured at the Waitui Ātea Saltwater Realm exhibition at Auckland Central Library (runs from 17 March to 19 July), see link here

6. All flyer books are featured on the Coalition for Books’ new website

www.coalitionforbooks.nz

7. The flyer in electronic form has gone out via SLANZA to school libraries.

8. There is a pop-up bookstall and writers and poets David Eggleton/Tayi Tibble/Daren Kamali will perform at The Dorothy Butler Bookshop this Sunday from 12-2pm.
