From the Coalition for Books:
As we begin the countdown to the biggest gift-giving season of the year, The Coalition for Books is pleased to present our final campaign for the year: Read Local, Buy Local. Launched on November 1, this digital campaign’s focus is on encouraging readers to buy or borrow New Zealand books by New Zealand authors – a central tenet of the Mahi Tahi Work Together strategy – and we are thrilled to share the assets with you all to join us in this call to action.
We have launched digital assets (which include posters for printing and social media tiles and banners) for use throughout November, December and even into January. A selection has been designed to nod to the Coalitions collaboration with Booksellers NZ on the NZ edition of their Summer Reading Guide, and you will find some Summer-focused messaging in the mix too.
The more of us sharing these assets, the bigger the impact of the campaign — and the stronger the message (and sales!).
At this link you will find BUY and BORROW variants for five key messages:
-
Through Books We Grow (in English and te Reo)
-
Give the Gift of Reading (Summer Reading tie-in)
-
Summer in Aotearoa is Fully Booked
-
Our Books, Our Stories (in English and te Reo)
-
Share the Aroha with a Book Lover this Summer (Summer Reading tie-in)
So there is plenty of content to mix and match!
We want these assets to feel as much yours as they are ours (though, please do not alter the designs), so there is no prescribed copy or timeline – we encourage you to incorporate the RLBL artwork into your own marketing plans for Summer Reading and tailor your posts as needed to increase reach, sales, and/or visitors at key times (e.g. flash sales) for your organisation. Just remember to tag us @coalitionforbooksnz and @ketebooks so we can see how far RLBL goes!
Whether you’re a publisher, writer, book seller, book lender, or book spruiker in any way, this campaign is for you. Indeed, it is for us all.
Please do let us know what your plans are, and get in touch if you’d like to chat about how best to implement the RLBL campaign in your library, bookshop or bookish organisation.
