Two job opportunities are available with The New Zealand Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi o Aotearoa (PEN NZ) Inc. funded by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage as part of the capability building for arts organisations as part of COVID response. These roles are each 0.5 FTE or 20 hours per week and will be a fixed term contract to December 2022 (18 months).
Administrative support – 20 hours per week. Fixed term till Dec 2022
An opportunity to take on a support role within the Literary sector. You will be working within the NZ Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi o Aotearoa, a membership organisation that has been working for writers since 1934 and currently has over 1730 members.
You will be providing administrative support across the organisation, supporting the successful running of our programmes and awards, membership services, and learning opportunities. The work is varied with plenty of opportunities for you to make a difference. You will also be loading content and support materials and handling event organisation and logistics, and support for the marketing and promoting of events and services as prescribed in our communications plan. This includes post-event surveys and evaluations to inform planning and development of future modules and live events.
We need someone with a good skill base and broad administrative experience who can plan and prioritise, has sound computer literacy, can collect and process information, is approachable, has good written and verbal communication skills, and a good eye for detail.
Knowledge of Xero, Microsoft Office, CiviCRM (or other Customer Relationship Management systems), and WordPress/WooCommerce would be advantageous. Knowledge of contemporary NZ writers and interest in writing will help your enjoyment of this work. We encourage applicants that reflect the multicultural population of our city. An opportunity to take on a communications and marketing role within the Literary sector. You will be working within the NZ Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi o Aotearoa, a membership organisation that has been working for writers since 1934 and currently has 1730 members.
Come and help our team with marketing and communications. Our organisation offers a suite of professional learning programmes, administers prizes and awards, advocates for writers and issues regular communications including bulletins, a quarterly (printed and online) magazine, member updates and press releases.
You will be working with our management team in promoting and marketing our services across all our communication platforms including WordPress website, MailChimp email campaigns, FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media as required.
Knowledge of WordPress, Microsoft Office, MailChimp, FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram are advantageous to this role. Knowledge of contemporary NZ writers and interest in writing would help your enjoyment of this work. We are looking for someone with excellent written communication skills and an eye for detail. Knowledge of contemporary writers and the literary community would be an advantage. Good verbal skills and the ability to proactively engage with members, media and other arts and literary organisations in the sector is vital.
