Congratulations to NZSA member Ariana Tikao (Kāi Tahu) and to Octavia Cade, on winning this residency.

Ariana Tikao is a past Arts Foundation Laureate, a multidisciplinary artist, and is particularly known as a taonga puoro practitioner. She will be following up her most recent book, ‘Mokorua: Ngā kōrero mō tōku moko kauae’ (AUP) by working on a volume of poems on the kaupapa of te reo Māori.

Octavia Cade has a PhD in science communication and is a multi-award-winning writer of speculative fiction, with a resume as long as your arm. She will be working on creative nonfiction essays that look at how landscape and ecology in this country can be interpreted through a speculative lens. More
