A sad farewell to writer and colleague Kelly Ana Morey, whose many accolades include winning the Hubert Church (NZ) first novel prize, the inaugural Janet Frame Award for Fiction in 2005, a CLNZ | NZSA Research Grant recipient in 2012, a Māori Writer’s Residency at the Michael King Writers’ Centre in 2014, and Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship in 2023. Kelly Ana worked as a mentor and assessor in the NZSA Kaituhi Māori Mentorship Programme and interviewed Denys Trussell and Graeme Lay as part of the NZSA Oral History podcast series. She was essays editor for Takahē. Kelly Ana will be sadly missed.
