Vale Keri Hulme

It’s with great sadness that we heard of literary icon Keri Hulme’s passing yesterday, Monday 27 December.

She was Aotearoa’s first Booker Prize winner for her novel, The Bone People. Our thoughts are with her friends and whānau.

Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision has out put together some great media of Hulme, including an interview and film excerpt, visit here.

Her nephew Matthew Salmons told Radio NZ that “Hulme was an icon for the family.” Full article here.

And writer Ali Ikram took a journey with Hulme from Oamaru to the 2014 Auckland Writers Festival, full account here – Beyond the headland: an encounter with Keri Hulme.
