Writing your first novel and need some help?
These two workshops will cover key aspects of novel writing relevant for work aimed at an adult, YA or a children’s audience. Learn about narrative structure, plot and character arcs, dialogue, point of view, voice, evoking mood, tone and landscape and how to “show, not tell”.
Your tutors:
Thalia Henry gained a Master of Creative Writing with first class honours in 2015 from AUT. Her work is featured in the Cloud Ink Press Anthology Fresh Ink and her novel for adults Beneath Pale Water has just been published by Cloud Ink Press.
Anne Kayes won the 2016 Storylines Tom Fitzgibbon award with Tui Street Tales (published by Scholastic NZ), a story collection for 8-12 year olds, which was developed as her thesis in the Master of Creative Writing at AUT in 2014. Read more.
