Each year since 1993, the language specialists (Lektoren) at the International Youth Library in Munich select newly published books from around the world that they consider to be especially noteworthy. This list of award books is compiled into the annual White Raven Catalogue, which is introduced at the Frankfurt (Germany) Book Fair in October and displayed at the Bologna (Italy) Children’s Book Fair in March. Books listed are those that deserve worldwide attention because of their universal themes and/or exceptional and often innovative artistic and literary style and design.
